Tim Tebow Pictures
Timothy Richard Tebow was born on August 14, 1987 in Manila, Philippines. His parents Bob and Pam Tebow were christian missionaries in the Philippines the time of Tim's birth. I was said that while his mother was pregnant with him she contracted a pathogenic amoeba and had complications during the pregnancy. The doctors had told her that it would be wise for her to have an abortion because the fetus had experienced a serious placental abruption. She kept the baby and a few months later she gave birth to Tim Tebow.
During the early years him and his siblings were all home schooled by their mom, during this time she raised them with a strong christian belief. When Tim was young and living in Florida with his family there was a change in Florida laws that allowed Tim and anyone else that was being home schooled that they could pick the school that they wanted to play sports with. He started his football career at a christian school in Florida.
During that time he played linebacker, and tight end, but he felt his true calling was quarter back. The problem was that the school he was attending didn't have a passing game, they relied more on running the ball.
It was soon after that he decided to look at his options and came across Nease High School. The coach there Craig Howard was known for having a great passing offense so he decided to go there. That's when Tim and his mother Pam got a apartment near St. Johns county so that he could play at Nease. After just a few games he started making a name for himself, and of course there was controversy because people didn't feel it was fair that a child that gets home schooled is allowed to pick a team that he will play for.
It wasn't until his junior year in high school where he started getting national
recognition. At the end of his junior year he was selected as the state of Florida's Player of the Year. He also got those honors after his senior year too. During his senior year at Nease he led them to the state championship and won the state title. He also received All-State honors, and was named Florida's Mr. Football. During his high school career he accumulated 9,810 passing yards, 3,186 rushing yards, threw for 95 touchdowns, and ran for 62.
Although he was considered a top recruit through many different sources he only really thought about two colleges. One of them was Alabama where he became friends with the coach there at the time Mike Shula, and the University of Florida. Even though he thought about Alabama there was some family ties to Florida because that is where his father Bob and mother Pam first met. He ended up choosing Florida.
